Reverse Logistics

Overview

In today's marketplace, many retailers and vendors treat IT hardware returns as individual, disjointed transactions.

"The challenge for retailers and vendors is to process returns at a level that allows quick, efficient and cost-effective collection and return of merchandise. Customer requirements facilitate demand for high standards of service that include accuracy and timeliness.”

It is the logistic company’s responsibility to shorten the link from return origination to ultimate re-sale, disposal or re-deployment.

Typical reverse logistics activities include collection of used, damaged, recalled, unwanted or outdated products, recycling programs, hazardous material programs, obsolete equipment disposition and asset recovery.  Once a product has been returned, there are many disposal options from which to choose.

The product may be returned to the vendor for a full refund. If the product has not been used it may be resold to a new customer, or it may be disposed of through an outlet store. If it is not of sufficient quality to be sold through either of these options, then than it may be remarketed through used dealers, exported to a foreign market or environmentally disposed.

Challenges arise integrating the help desk, field service, warranty management, workshop repair, and asset recovery functions together under a comprehensive management system.

APCD has developed a coherent and consistent process for assisting vendors with their reverse logistics challenges.

We look forward to developing a reverse logistics solution tailored to your unique requirements.
